Program

We travel at an ideal period during the festival of lights. Temperatures are pleasantly warm and the views of the Himalayas spectacular.

Day 1/2:

Arrival: Kathmandu early afternoon. Time for orientation and rest in a beautiful hotel, located near Swayambunnath Stupa. This stupa is one of the holiest Buddhist sites in Nepal and its establishment is linked to the creation of the Kathmandu Valley from a primordial lake. The day ends with time to enjoy the sunset.

Day 3:

Early morning to Pashupatinath, a Shiva temple complex where the last death rituals are performed along the river. Afternoon visit: Boudhanath stupa to join hundreds of Buddhist pilgrims circumambulating the stupa.

Day 4:

Patan Durban Square. Like its counterpart in Kathmandu, this square is an enchanting mix of palace buildings, artistic courtyards and graceful pagoda temples. Listed as a World Heritage Site, the former royal palace complex is the center of Patan’s religious and social life. After a lovely lunch in the beautiful garden of the palace we drive to Changunaravan to visit the oldest temple of the Kathmandu valley. Afterwards, we start a gentle hike (2.5hrs) to the lovely farmhouse in Nagarkot, where we are warmly welcomed and will enjoy an open fire in the evening.

Days 5/6/7:

Your days start with spectacular views of the snowcapped Himalaya mountain range from your room. From Nagarkot we take daily hikes visiting different villages, meeting the charming local population. These 3 days allow plenty of time for the program on inner stillness. This is also the time of Diwali 'Festival of lights', one of the biggest festival of Hindus, celebrated with great enthusiasm and happiness. Different colorful varieties of fireworks are always associated with this festival. On 26/10, the "Panchanga" day (the auspicious day), people light up diyas and candles all around their house and perform Laxmi Puja.
